The Beachy Look is Back in Weddings

The Beachy Look is Back in Weddings

The wedding craze is going from strength to strength, with the industry having fully recovered (and indeed, enjoying a time of record demand) following the slow turnout of 2020 and 2021.

The world has officially returned to ‘the new normal’ and, as we learn to live, play, and celebrate safely, brides and grooms are keener than ever to make their weddings truly representative of who they are. Just a few of the hottest trends in the industry are outdoor weddings and sustainability. Fashion, makeup, and hair are also riding these waves, with natural, sea-inspired looks holding sway. Read on to discover the key elements of this look.

Sun and Sand

Bare and simple wedding beauty is trending and that means that effortless beach looks are all the rage. At New York Bridal Fashion Week, designers such as Monique Llullier, Marchesa, Maggie Sottero, Yolancris and Eisen Stein showed how beautifully natural looks complement even the most elaborately designed dresses. To capture their essence, imagine your favorite actors walking along the beach, hand in hand, in white or cream attire and an effortless, sun-kissed aura. Try out different looks with classic nude palettes like Charlotte Tilbury’s The Super Nudes Easy Eye Palette, Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes, and Jeffree Star Cosmeticss Orgy Eyeshadow Palette. You can choose between sandy, coffee, taupe, and light gray hues. Don’t overdo the lashes (keep your natural ones if you can and use barely a touch of mascara), use a brush and eyeshadow to apply your eyeliner (insead of a Kohl pen), and complement a neutral eye look with a light bronzer on your cheekbones and a matte, nude lipstick. Loose beachy, boho chic waves are the perfect hairstyle for this look.

She Sells Seashells

Beachy looks don’t only comprise sandy hues and wind-tossed hair. They can also incorporate the elements of the sea and beach that lend them their color. Think the light coral hues and subdued pink of crushed shells, or the brighter orange, red and vermilion stripes of seashells like the Mitreor the Sundial. You can wear these tones on your eyes or cheeks. Apply your makeup with a light touch and to use a powerful primer and makeup setting spray to keep the product in place all night long. The lips are the perfect spot to add a brighter pop of coral or berry. Keep it matte instead of blingy to fit your natural theme.

Smooth and Luminous

Bare looks work best when skin is in its best condition. In the months leading up to your wedding, follow a skin treatment plan. Depending on your needs, this could include laser or mesotherapy treatments, which can target issues such as large pores, oiliness or dryness, and lack of firmness. Skin that is smooth and free of sunspots can shine beautifully with a light, luminizing foundation that does not look cakey. Add further light to your face with a natural highlighter above your cheekbone, on the edge of your nose, and on your chin.

Natural, beachy wedding makeup makes the perfect partner to the new penchant for sustainable weddings set in gardens or by the sea. To keep it simple, avoid dark eyeliner, heavy mascara, or unnaturally long eyelashes. Focus on the beauty of your skin and choose eyeshadows in the shades that abound on the seashore—including nude, light gray, peach, coral, and light pink. Work on your skin health in the months leading up to your big day and consume a healthy diet to ensure your skin is hydrated from the inside.
