Self Esteem Boosting Fashion – Feel Fantastic in Your Sportswear

When it’s done right, fashion can be a brilliant way to boost your self esteem. The clothes you dress in can make you feel a million dollars if you choose well, and when it comes to workout clothes this can be extra motivation for exercising too. The more you workout, the better you’ll look in your clothes and it can create a positive reward cycle where you want to keep returning to the gym. Here are some of the ways to go about feeling great in your sportswear.

Refine Your Style

Knowing what your style is can help you immensely when it comes to shopping, and wearing clothes that feel authentic to your identity. Not only is this true of your everyday wardrobe, but it also applies to your workout clothes too. Try on different items and work out what feels most like ‘you.’ Are you a plus size girly girl? If so, search for activewear that’s pretty and flattering, perhaps florals or pastel colors would work well. Maybe you prefer more of a gender neutral style? If so, you could even check out the menswear sections and pull pieces that work for you. Some sexy workout tops might make you feel like a bombshell at the gym- crop tops, strappy tops and plunge sports bras for example – follow here to check out some different styles. Perhaps something a bit more punk and alternative is your usual genre? Adapt these trends into your workout gear for an additional confidence boost

Find the Right Fit

Clothes that fit are so much more important than the size the label says. So many of us are hung up on buying items in ‘our size’ and refuse to go any bigger, when really we should be choosing whatever size most closely matches our measurements and how the garment fits. The size will likely be different from shop to shop and even garment to garment. Start trying things on and don’t be afraid to size up if it fits you better, if you purchase things that are too small not only will they not look as good but you’ll feel uncomfortable. When it comes to things like gymwear, it needs to fit right to give you the right level of support and ensure that you remain comfortable throughout your sport or workout. If you find that you struggle with finding the right fit in certain clothing types, you could always go to a seamstress to make things a perfect fit. If for example you have a large bust you might find that you always struggle with tops and gym bras and find they never fit quite right. Buying a larger size and then having them tailored to you will mean they look fantastic every time, and it doesn’t cost as much as you’d think.

Balance Your Proportions

Not only is the fit of your sportswear important, but so is getting the proportions of your activewear right. Understanding your body shape and proportions generally can help here, if you’re unsure then grab a tape measure and do some Googling. Dressing your proportions correctly might involve wearing high waisted leggings and a crop top if your frame is taller and slimmer. Wearing something fitted on the bottom and looser on top, or tight on the top and looser on the bottom can help if you have certain insecurities that you don’t want to show off. Good sports leggings for example can help to sculpt and shape and pull everything in. Avoid going too baggy with your clothing items, or combining a baggy top with baggy bottoms which can make you look bigger and can also look quite slouchy and scruffy.

Choose Your Colors

If you’re a little more body conscious then darker colors are always going to look flattering and slimming, regardless of the style you choose. If you’re more confident then you could go all out with brights, bolds and neon shades. Choosing the right color along with the right style is key in getting a workout outfit that feels most like you, and gives you the most confidence.
